Exposed brick trend but be sure to do this

Exposed brick can bring warmth and a sense of old world elegance to a room. It is important, however, to consider a few things.

Because of the earthy look, it goes very well with both industrial, modern, stainless steel, or traditional wood and crafty furniture. We always seem to gravitate to using greenery in the way of potted plants against it to prevent it from looking too rough or asperous.

Brick is a porous material, which unfortunately means that it can be stained by some substances. Crayons or acidic substances come to mind. That’s why we apply a sealant, preferably acrylic based to protect the surface and make it impermeable.

If you have a brick surface that needs cleaning, the best thing to do is to dust periodically. A vacuum cleaner with a hand held extension is very useful.

If you need to deep clean, mixing water and equal parts salt and clear dishwashing liquid can be very effective. If you mix them in all equal parts, it will create a paste that you can apply and leave to sit for ten to fifteen minutes. Finally, using a wet sponge and lots of water, you rinse the solution off the wall.
